How the automobile designer’s inventions gave the modern automobile its original form. Together with Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach developed the combustion engine and combined the engine with a carriage chassis, creating a vehicle unit. This vehicle, the “four-wheeled wagon“, was the original form of the modern automobile. Invented by Wilhelm Maybach in 1886 it is the forerunner of all of the subsequence vehicle types and shapes. The feature presents Maybach’s inventions, whose patents continue to influence today’s automobiles.
